Greetings from Vancouver
Hey everyone,
I've been on the forum a little while now and I am grateful for all the knowledge out there!
I've been a car guy since I was 15. I enjoy tinkering with older cars (that don't give me too much grief).
I ended up with my 1997 Jaguar Vanden Plas by design about three months ago. I'm getting into real estate out here, so I wanted an inexpensive but prestigious first-year-in-real-estate car I could haul clients around in in comfort. I also knew, to some, it would be a "conversation piece", Jags being misunderstood by some as they are. Should make for fun conversation.
I did some research, and the 95-97 X300's seem to have a pretty good reputation. I paid a whopping $5700 for mine, a two owner example. My goal was to find a no-accident car with original paint and I got it. I put new tires on it immediately, and had some of the seating areas professionally and correctly re-dyed due to a neglectful previous owner and his dog he hauled around in it.
I've had fun whipping the car back into shape. Odometer is 120 Kilomtres. The exterior still looks great and it runs great. Some work remains to do, such as the pinion seal, clock read out, narrowing down a power steering leak, etc. I'll do some of it, the more important stuff, but I don't plan to go crazy investing in it.
So, thanks for all the great info and help so far-
Cheer, Wayne

In the meantime I've upgraded you manually to full forum access so you can better view the site
Wow, thanks for the warm welcome guys!
Should be several fresh pics of my car in my profile....
Yep; our Canuck's are rocking on...they may end up playing my home State of Florida (Tampa Bay Lightning) if Tampa Bay beats Boston. I was not a Hockey fan till I moved here; am now. My whole neighbor hood cheers when we score.
Loving my car... even more so now, because I fixed my electric telescoping steering wheel function yesterday! I'll do a write up of that repair in the forum thread... us 6'4 guys need all the room we can get. And I braved the repair with confidence because of info from this forum (as I hoped the airbag would not blow up in my face haha).
Take care, Wayne
