Hello!
I've been observing this forum for quite some time and it's finally time I become an active participant. Last year I bought my first Jaguar. I was wanting to purchase a three to five year old luxury car and I really wanted to find something that was a bit outside the ordinary. I wasn't sure what that was going to be but when I went to a local euro-reseller's website I saw a black on black Jaguar 2006 XJ8 VDP and new I was heading in the right direction. There's definitely something unique about a car that has fold down tables. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/i...nce-cpatch.gif I had always taken second looks at any of the relatively few XJ's on the road here in Phoenix, but I had always thought "too bad they suck for reliability". Never the less I couldn't resist seeing the car in person so I trotted down to the dealership just to kill some time and see what else might be of interest on the lot. Then I saw the car in person. It was unquestionably made the biggest statement of any of the sedans sitting on the lot. Even though it sat in between big Mercs and BMW's, there was no question as to which one I'd want to call my own. That prompted me to do some more research into the cars reputation. Overall I liked what I saw on this forum, but what sealed the deal for me was the JD Power customer satisfaction report that was released for the 2006 model year. I was SHOCKED to see Jaguar sitting in a tie for number one above Lexus. I had been going off the rep that Jaguar "earned" during the prior two decades. That reputation worked to my advantage and is why I was able to pick-up the car up for less than a third of what the car retailed for 3 years prior. It's hard to think of any better value for the money in this market segment.
I've had my car for about 10 months and can say I have no regrets about my choice. I love the way it drives and the classic british style exudes a unique panache that the german cars wish they had and that Lexus can't even comprehend. I get compliments on it nearly every day, but most importantly I love walking out to the parking lot, seeing this car and knowing I've got the key in my pocket!
