Hello everyone,
My name is Craig and I'm a retired Fed living in Alexandria. I bought my 2001 XK8 Roadster, British Racing Green, in 2002 when it had 6,000 miles on it. The car does not have the navigation system, which is the way I wanted it. I prefer the look of the three gauges instead. The car now has 38,000 miles on it. I've had to have the oil pan gasket replaced twice since I've had it, and had a leaky thermostat and related plumbing replaced. I also recently put Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires on the car. I've always disliked Z rated tires and was glad to find Conti offering something for performance cars with a soft and quiet ride that would last 50,000 miles. Those tires made the car much easier to live with.
I used to have the car serviced at the dealer from whom I bought it, Rosenthal, in Fairfax county, but have since found a private garage that I trust to do great work at reasonable prices. Makes owning one of these things more pleasurable.
I've lusted after owning a Jag roadster ever since I saw my first XKE back in the early 60's. I've had better cars, but none as lovely.

Gus-
I'm game...I get out to Leesburg fairly regularly. La Chosita, Angeethi and Tuskies are my favorites.
BTW, Congrats on your new appointment to Moderator...very well deserved !!

Yeah, that was the only negative to the 2006 we just picked up here in TX. I really preferred the timeless 3 gauge setup, and given the uniqueness inherent in the natural wood dash it's not something you can realistically retrofit. The fact that the maps haven't been updated since 2002/3 and likely never will just makes it all the more sad. However, the other 2 cars we were looking at just weren't as nice as the one we got, so it was the right trade-off. Besides, once you put the top down you're not looking at them anyway, so enjoy!Originally Posted by cadillac
Welcome, I would prefer 3 gauges over navi , you can find better brands than standard navi for your model ,I think

I'm a geezer, so I prefer actual maps. It is easier to access more data: Just turn the page.
Anybody from this area (NoVa, DC, MD) know or remember when that auto show is held in Rockville(?) I remember seeing lots of Jags and other British cars there the one time I went. If the weather is good, it can be a nice afternoon.

Craig, welcome to the Forums. I am south of you by about an hour (down in Great Mills, MD). If you ever need any work done, let me know. I love working on cars. Give you a chance to learn some about your kitty too.
As for shows, check out the "Concours d'Elegance" site. They do Jaguar only shows and they hold them all over the place. I have seen them advertised for both Fairfax, VA and Richmond, VA. That is probably what you were seeing. Lots of nice cars at these shows.
So, if you ever need anything, just hollar. I'm always willing to turn a few wrenches and get greasy.

Thanks for the offer Thermo. I'll send up an SOS if I run into a really thorny problem that money can't solve.
And yes White XKR, that was the show I was thinking of. Bummer.

Upgraded to FFA so you can enjoy al the features of the site.
Hope you enjoy your time here.
Hi Craig,
Welcome aboard. I live in Fairfax so we're not too distant. I'm on my third Jaguar, this time an S-Type. I wanted something a little smaller than the XJs I used to have.
