Smile Hello All

Hi all.
My name is Mike and I live in Lancashire, England. My wife and I have just bought our first Jag, a 2000 XK8 convertable in racing green.
I found this site when trying to sort out a Traction control, ACS & ABS issue. I googled it and came across a post from Reverend Sam about cleaning sensors and then others about weak batteries. I'm just about to get my spanners out.
Thanks to the reverend and hello to everybody else as well.

Cheers Mike

Welcome Stoneman
I have been to your area but it has been a long time. My mother is from Bolton and she was a war bride. Enjoy your Jag, I know I am enjoying mine.

I'm glad I could help out, stoneman! I'm just giving back to the forum. I've gotten much more out of it than I've put in. You'll find that you can save yourself thousands of pounds (I was going to say dollars) by taking advantage of the advice on this forum. For example, another potential issue with that ABS problem is a broken solder joint in the ABS module. The dealer will charge you $2800 for that repair. You can do it yourself for under $10.

I did actually. We have a decent Jag specialist fairly close to us who put an electronic gizmo on the car and diagnosed the problem as being the ABS pump unit, which needed replacing or resoldering. They are fixing the existing part next Tuesday.
Thanks Preston Jaguar at Barton

Hi
Bolton is just 15 minutes away from here. I live near Preston which is a bit further North

Hi
By Dolly Blues, I assume you mean Lancaster Football Club. I think they are surviving as well as any lower league team.
I'm a Preston North End man myself.
Cheers

Hi and thanks
In fact it was the ABS module which has caused the problem, but cleaning up the sensors can only help the situation. We have a local firm called Preston Jaguar, who are going to fix it for me, (I don't mind changing parts or cleaning them, but I don't fancy the electrics.) and have a look at the timing chains and a few other bits while they are at it. They replaced my rear (A) sub frame, with a good used part, for 285 pounds, which was very reasonable. They also showed me round the car, which means I'm better placed if I do fancy going in and getting my hands dirty.
Cheers Mike.
