Default Hello to all

At last i'm a Jaguar owner again, sold my XJ6 X300 2.5yrs ago, mainly due to circumstances, the Jag wasn't really practical at the time as we were running a C Class Merc 230 kompressor and the Jag, fuel prices and high mileages in the Merc forced a rethink and the Jag made way for a Golf diesel!

the Merc remaining as a family car as it was an estate, ideal for our regular trips to the continent, any how the Mrs wanted a bigger car, which meant the Golf was replaced by a Renault Grand Scenic! nice?

also I manged to secure a Mercedes Vito Dual liner as a company car, so we have two vehicles capable of doing the holidays and carting the kids etc.

This left an opportunity, and I always fancied another Jaguar, nearly plumped for an E Class as the old C was such a good car apart from the rust issues with circa 2000 Mercs, but the Jag won on style and feel good factor, heart over head probably.

Any way I found a decent 3.5 V8 X350, full Jag history etc. done a few miles but price was right and condition rally good especially the interior which looked untouched, most noticeable things over the old model were firmer ride at low speeds, much better power delivery, noticeably lighter, better fuel consumption, better gearbox.

The car still feels like a Jag to sit in, has good equipment levels with sat nav, Alpine amplified sound, phone, rear window blind plus the usual stuff. Couple of early niggles with a fault engine temp sender unit showing overheating (thankfully it wasn't) problem getting locking wheel nuts undone (now replaced with standard nuts) and noisy brakes, fitted new font discs and pads but still some noise, possibly due to Mintex Pads and grooved disc, I live with it hoping they'll quieten down with a bit more bedding in, but i'll go with standard discs another time.

effortless high speed cruising on any roads is where the Jag really impresses me, it's well planted, secure feel allows one handed driving at very high speeds on A roads and it shows that these cars are really set up for this more than low speed stuff where the air suspension fails to soak up road imperfections like the old coil sprung X300.

so far really enjoying the car, I do all my own maintenance and repairs so will also be looking forward to getting to know the car a bit more from a mechanical point of view (hopefully not too well though).
