Default 'Hello' from Bristol

Greetings

Recently bought a 1999-reg XKR (4 litre supercharged beast). Absolutely loving it: I have the biggest cheesy grin imaginable when driving around. And, yes, I'm making lots of pointless trips to the shops and wherever, just for the excuse of driving it somewhere. Anywhere...

Only trouble so far is it threw a 'Gearbox Fault' on the M5 when I was ferrying it home. Had another a few days ago as well. Now I'm not used to automatics and it seems not to like coasting up to a stop with the gearbox in neutral. Simple remedy is not to knock it into neutral until the car has actually stopped moving. Hopefully just a low fluid level and not a new gearbox. Or maybe just a foible to work around.

If anyone is interested, I'm a regular at the Queens Square ADC meets in Bristol and also on the Pistonheads forum.

Best wishes, Colin

Welcome to this friendly Forum and thanks for the interesting intro.
Don't forget to check those timing chain tensioners.
Went to school in Bristol - happy memories of under age scrumpy drinking in the dockside pubs.
Enjoy your car and membership.

Welcome to the forum Colin,

Follow Norri's link to the XK8/XKR section for help, advice and information.

Although transmission faults aren't exactly unknown, leave it in Drive, foot off the Accelerator and use the Brake to stop is the usual way to come to a halt.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham
