Smile Hello from Bury St Edmunds

Hi, I am Chris from Bury St Edmunds and I am new to Jaguar ownership, having just bought a 2001 XK8. I now have a big grin on my face!

I have already found the forum useful as the passenger seat adjustment doesn't work, but thanks to the information supplied I have isolated the problem to the PCB in the seat control module. I have managed to repair the damaged module case using plastic weld and will reinforce it with some modelling styrene sheet.

I will post some pictures once this facility is enabled.

Welcome to Jag ownership and this Forum. You have bought a beautiful vehicle that should give you great pleasure (except that repairs can be expensive). Most of us think the difference in maintenance costs is well worth it. But I do shudder when occasionally a university student is tempted to buy one because the car usually is so beautiful for the price compared to other used cars. They don't realize how expensive repairs can be even though it is no more than for other luxury cars.

Will you be doing any of your own maintenance and repairs? If so members of this Forum will be a godsend for help and advice. Just be patient in meeting the requirememts for full forum access. Just keep spontaneously making posts about your experiences as they occur and you will have full access before you know it.

Hello Chris and welcome to jaguarforums.com. I know that you are anxious to get started and we are anxious to meet you and talk about your car. We have a baseline / criteria that must be met before full access can be granted. Please enjoy the forum and be patient once the baseline has been satisfied full access will be granted. Please continue to post and accept my welcome to the forum.

Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.

Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.

I am having the car serviced by a local Jaguar specialist who came highly recommended, although I am attempting to fix the seat control module myself. I found a broken connection on the PCB and have successfully jumped it, but it has not fixed the problem. I have checked the board with a multimeter, but cannot locate any other problems. The part number is LJE2160AA/XXX. Is this available from Ford as they are the manufacturer?

Not sure if they can but I would give the a call or e-mail ModuleMaster rebuilds ABS modules for as low as $100, 2 day average turn-around, 5 Year Guarantee

Welcome to the forum. I'm a new member also, still searching for the right vehicle, i.e., currently Jag'less. Haven't been to England, but have heard of your town when doing some reading about English history. Beautiful place.
