Default Hello from Cheshire UK- help required already!

Hello all- This site looks brilliant, so decided to join- you seem a friendly, helpful lot! I've a 2001 black XK8 convertible.

The power washer has stopped working, although the wipers are fine ( the motor for the power wash doesn't make any noise, as it used to)

I'm going to try the fuse first but cannot find the fuse box diagram and fuse number online anywhere- can anyone help please?

Cheers
John

Hello and welcome,

On the 2001, the power wash is protected by a 30 amp Fuse No 7 in the engine compartment LH Fuse Box which is the one to the rear of the screen wash reservoir. There's also a relay R4 for it in the same box.

Thanks Graham- That's really helpful. I found fuse no. 7 but ( unfortunately) it seems OK. I have no idea about mechanics, so could it be the relay do you think, or might it just be that the motor has gone? I was trying to avoid taking it into a dealership!
Cheers,
John

John,

It's always worth trying the simplest things first and be systematic with fault finding. The fuse is OK but there's no equivalent of a visual check for a relay. The easiest thing is to temporarily swap it with an identical one that works. The next one to it in the fusebox is R5 for the dipped beam headlights and you'll know if that's OK just by the lights working.

If this doesn't solve it, do a search or start a thread on XK8 forum. You will get all the information needed to help you find, test and repair or fit a new wash pump.

Graham
