Default Hello from Hot Springs

I'm Bill Livingston and am new to the Forums. I bought my first new XJ6 in 1982 and have driven them since. The second XJ I bought was in 1995. I still have it and it is a daily driver. 220K miles.

Recently purchased a 1996 XJ6 VP with only 98K miles. Currently it will not crank. I put a new Interstate battery in it last week. Everything was fine. I also had sent the radio for repair (Radioman) and the clock for repair (Module Master). I put both of these back in the car yesterday along with an FM modulator. While doing that, with the engine running, the transmission fault light came on along with the check engine light. After I turned the ignition off and tried to start it again a little later the starter would not engage. I have searched for something I may have inadvertently disconnected. No luck.

I put a charger on the battery and the charger says the battery is at 80% charge.

Any thoughts out there?

Many thanks,

Bill Livingston

Welcome to the forum Bill,

The '96 could be either an X300 or an X305..............?

As Norri advised, you should post the tech question in the appropriate section. Follow this link XJ X300 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to X300 or this link XJ ( X305 ) XJ12 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to X305 section.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Welcome to the forum.

As per the others, head out into the tech sections.

(but give the Gear Shifter a 'thump' forward, the park/neutral switch can play up, causing a 'no crank'.
