Hi
Life is great in Huntsville. I just retired and am spending a lot time on the
golf course. I am also spending a lot of time in the Jaguar repair shop. They are saying an air flow box that has flaps that open and close to let hot and cold blow into the car when demanded needs to be replaced. They want $3500 for the part and 11 hours of labor @ $200 an hour!! They say the actuators are working and it is a mechanical problem with the box. I have tried to find some discussion on it with no luck. Part # MJA6440AE 2002 XK8 Conv. Hows life where you are at?

striegh1, welcome aboard!
I know that diverter box is being replaced by owners DIY-wise over in the s-type area, you may want to check them out for some insight. And if you still have questions about if you can do it yourself or not, start a new thread in the xk8-xkr subforum and get some advice, there's a few jag mechanics (active and retired) that are always looking for that unique problem to take on and advise upon. This is something I haven't heard about in this model, so it'll get some interest.
Enjoy your stay here, and your retirement. I'm off to the golf course today as well!!!
