Default Hello from Manchester UK

Hi I'm Andrew from near Manchester in England. I purchased a 2007 XK 4.2 in Emerald Fire (the best colour in my opinion) a couple of months ago and I am in the process of bringing her back to her former glory with a slight twist. My previous car was a 300c 5.7 Hemi.

It was involved in a crash at the beginning of the year, needing a complete front end. Everything upto the front pully was destroyed and it was not running.

First job was to replace / repair the front structure with all new Jaguar parts, new inner wings, cross members, bumper hangers even Jaguar rivets @ £2.50 each.

As the car needed both wings, bonnet, bumper and headlights I opted to replace them with a 2012 XKR frontend rather than 2007. This is nearly complete just sorting out the difference in wiring for the headlights and bumper.

I have also replaced the 2007 rear lights with MY2010 ones, fitted 2012 XKR discs and calipers, fitted a 2012 XKR spolier and a fitted a X60 bodykit minus the front splitter, bumper grills and chrome wing vents.

Still to do: Replace the chrome boot trim with an emerald fire one, fit gloss black Kalimnos 20" wheels, bolt the front bumper and lights in place, replace bits of engine plastic that were destroyed in the crash and fit the DAB ariel on the boot.

Shes now running like a dream.

Andrew

I have before pics, i didn't take many during the re-build process as I just got so involved with the engineering.

Welcome to the forum Andrew,

A major project. The 'before' and 'after' pics will make for very interesting viewing.

Good advice from Norri - follow his link to the XK section.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

In your case this may take a few more lines than most of us!

Hi and welcome to the forum. From what you describe, that was a big job. I hope you came out OK on costs, as these aluminium cars can get pricey to repair.
