I live about 10 miles south of Otaki.
Hardly ever see a cop around here and I've never seen any camera / radar trap anywhere except for one fixed Gatso camera on the down hill bit on SH1 going into Wellington.
The cops seem pretty ineffective in NZ to me. I live in a nice area and have had one car window smashed on two occasions and a car stolen from up my drive last Dec 1st.
In all cases the cops were very ineffective and did nothing about it in all cases.
There advice when my car got stolen was for me (ME) to go around to all my neighbors and ask if they had seen anything suspicious..... Isn't gathering evidence their job??
NZ cops, the most idle and ineffective bunch I have ever come across.
Next time the cops won't be called and I'll deal with it all myself.
The reason they didn't steal the car they smashed the window on twice is that it was a manual box and these thick idiots only have the brain cells to drive an auto box, manual is way to difficult for them to handle.
Sorry its a bit of a rant but the car (my wife's) was broken into the second time while she was suffering stage 4 cancer and mine was stolen a month after she died.
Here's what they did to a set of brand new Goodyear tires I had just had fitted to my Toyota Marl-X a couple of weeks prior to it being stolen.
