Default Hello from Norfolk (Virginia, that is)

Hello forum,
I recently became the proud owner of a 1995 XJS 4L 2+2 convertible. After years of watching 'Wheeler Dealers' and begging my wife, she let me pull the trigger and buy my new project car.

I have already done much cosmetic work (my glorious wife reupholstered the center 'glovebox' and driver's seat) and replaced all of the fluids.

The engine, thankfully, seems to be the bees knees and I haven't had any mechanical issues yet after 500mi. The car came with full service history, so I can see everything that has ever been done since it left the dealership.

I have perused this forum for about a year preparing for the big buy, and now that I have my new Jag, I am sure I will be here even more.

Future projects include new headliner on the convertible top, new speakers and a hidden stereo, reupholster the back seats (where the top gets stuck when opening) and changing the gasket for the valve cover.

I welcome any advice or pointers since this is my first project car. I have owned and rebuilt classic mopeds in the past, but I think this work will be a few orders of magnitude greater.

I am sure the pleasure will be a few orders greater as well. I look forward to diving into the forum, and I will be sure to post pics of any and all work I do to my new baby, as I know I enjoy looking at other people's projects.

Welcome to the forum Stillill,

Good to hear you found useful information here to help in your search for the XJS. Where are the pics????

You'll already know the XJS section has very enthusiastic and knowledgeable members and absolutely nothing that needs doing to one of these models seems to throw them.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Welcome stillill

I live in Norfolk....England that is. Is it as cold over there as it is here? we had -13 deg C on Monday (8.6 F I think) and plenty of snow, so the jag is in the garage, under cover and with a heater under it. I won't be taking it out for a while, until the weather improves, perhaps sometime in March. Really miss driving it. Hope you enjoy your XJS, always liked them
You'll like the forum

All, thanks for making me feel welcome. Trebor, thanks for the note. Its not quite that cold here. Tomorrow will be about 32 deg F (0 deg C, I think https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/i...s/icon_lol.gif ). I did get a day in the 60's last weekend so I got the top down. Everybody's cars are beautiful in their sig pic. I'll try to go take a good pic of my car this weekend so I can fit in around here.
