Hello from NY
Hi all!
I live in Buffalo, NY and NYC. I am a shade-tree mechanic, and a huge VW fan. I drive a 2001 VW Passat turbo. My grandmother has a 2004 XJ8 for which I do much of the work.
My grandfather ordered the Jag in 2004 a little more than a year before he passed away. It is Topaz with a custom-ordered piping-less Warm Charcoal interior. Grandpa was a big fan of Jaguars. Back in the day he owned an XKE 2+2. The XKE was Blue and I think it was a series I. Grandpa always regretted selling it and bought the XK8 so that we would have another Jaguar in the family.
Dad and I just drove the Jag this weekend from Buffalo to NYC and back. It is an amazingly fun car to drive, but has a poorly-designed entertainment system and is even more high maintenance than my VW. I signed up here looking for some assistance working on the Jag. Thanks in advance!

oops! Meant to say XJ8. I have so much trouble remembering that. I came up with the mnemonic "XK is for coupe" but I still get it wrong sometimes.

Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.
Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.

Thank you, Gus.
Can you elaborate? I thought I provided that information as soon as I signed up. That information appears to me in all of my posts. Thanks!

Regarding Gus's comment, he says that to pretty much all new joiners. You caught him off-guard. The vast majority of newbies do indeed require such admonition.
Welcome, and I think you'll find this forum a great place to hang out.

No worries.
I've been using forums since back in the day. Before the internet came around we had bbs's that you could dial-up and post to. Now, I read and post to a handful of forums regularly, and installed / configured a forum for a friend using phpbb: http://www.dubcityutah.com/forum/
