Default Hey all

First post, but not new to Jaguars. I've got a 70 E FHC. Have had it since 1993.

Looking at maybe getting into an XJ8 for a DD. I see them fairly inexpensive in my area. Looks like a nice mobile.

Maybe. I'll be looking into what are good and bad years to get, which models, etc.

Anyway, hello.
Pete

I've been steered towards the 2000-2003s as the most solid XJs, then leaping over the 04s-05s to the 06 and up. Don't own one, but just relaying info from insider sources.

If you're looking older, I hear the xj6s are also very reliable and easy to maintain.

Thanks Matt. I'd be curious to know why -- is it motors, transmissions, etc.?

Thanks for the heads up -- I'll look into it. Most likely 2000-2003 will be more in my price range anyway.

Pete

Hey thanks guys. Yup, that's my E, at British Invasion in Stowe VT a few years back. She's a great cat, and we'll be together forever. She's not perfect, but she's mostly original, silver with red interior, certified docs from Heritage Trust, etc.

Here's 3 silver E coupes from Stowe, with my E in the foreground.

Welcome to the forums , you have a nice ride
I would like to drive an X300 V12 instead of XJ8 but V8 engine seems more modern in performance wise namely "R" models

Funny. Three very similar cars, two almost exactly the same vintage, and all three of them have different radio antenna mounting locations.

Hey Mohrd -- never noticed that before, but it looks like you are correct.

Jaguar at its finest, I'm sure. At least then. Lots of history in the Es -- this number car has this air cleaner, the next car has an older-style air cleaner --- seems it was whatever they could find got put on.
