Default Hi All

  1. I'm new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I presently have a '91 Vanden Plas which I got from my brother-in-law. He was going to junk it so I decided to restore it instead. This is my 3rd Jag (1970 E-Type, 1972 Xj6) so I am well aware what I am getting into .
  2. Anyway, looking foward to sharing stories and such. Cheers, Chic

Welcome, Bandit! Nice interior. Do we get to see the exterior, too?

Hi FD welcome to the forum. Why was he going to scrap it, and what's with the webbing?
Share away, we like 'stories and such' even better with pics.

A pic of the steering wheel is a good start, even if a bit strange;-)

Do we get to see the rest?

Enjoy your stay,

Welcome bandit, glad to hear you took on such a noble project. I assume, it was free from the brother-n-law right?

Welcome to the forum as well. I love to hear about people restoring 80's and 90's cars.. It seems to be the forgotten auto decades!

Translator: That "webbing" as you call it was the result of US safety regs. All cars in the US in the late 80's into the early 90's had to have "passive restraints" if they didn't have airbags. It was a total disaster with these crazy gizmos in the doors to automatically put on the seat belt for you! Kind of like the silly third brake lamp thing that came out in '86. If you look at a great many cars from the US in the late 80's they would have this stuck on lamp in the back window or on the trunk...

Thanks for the info Jeff,
Bandit your pics show it perfectly. I had never seen this before, we don't have this contraption in Europe, I have both a 92 (almost daily driver) and a 94 for spares and don't have either this, nor the middle light.

Although we do have compulsory seat belt laws and have had for decades.

Good luck with your resto

Sweet ride.... It doesn't appear that she was ready for the boneyard yet! Good luck on the restoration.
