Thumbs up Hi all

Im up here in sunny Scotland. Bought my first jag a week before christmas last year.
Absolutely love it. 2.2 x-type diesel sovereign. 55 plate, 1 owner with 49,000 miles on it. Usual story though it's once you buy a car that you find out the problem areas on them like rust on the boot where the chrome boot finisher rubs and sticking EGR's.

Decided last week to have a go at the wheels as they were letting the car down. Some of the laquer was peeling and the colour was deteriorating. Used aerosols from Halfords and I'm really pleased the way they've turned out.

Only done the drivers side so far. Next job is to tackle the rust at the boot. Had the car at Jaguar but out of warranty so I think I'll have a go myself. Then sort the EGR. Have had motorbikes most of my days but had to sell my last one to buy my first car in donkeys years.

A VW Bora. Good old car but repair list was getting longer and longer so traded it away for the Jag. The interior is absolutely stunning. I think I like it better than the outside and the leather is in really good condition( Light cream ).

The car pretty much looks brand new so I'm really delighted with it. Its quartz grey in colour which is really nice aswell.

Welcome to the forum,

Good to hear you're enjoying the X-Type.

Follow this link X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X-Type section for help and advice on the EGR.

Post some pics of the wheel refurbishment in the same section. It's a common problem and you can help others as well as get some tips yourself.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others give relevant information.

Graham

LOL - Sunny Scotland? I remember some sun there, but it still sounds funny to me, being here in Texas. Interesting car, Diesel Sovereign. Can't say that I ever saw one. I'm looking forward to some pics.

Welcome aboard.

Hey del and welcome aboard Jaguarforums, good to have you here with us, but sunny & Scotland??
C'mon, I'm in Glasgow and we had summer in early June.....remember the day I mean?....lol

Pics please when you can.........lovin the X type, had an 02 2.5 Sport myself. The diesels are great too, the 2.2 having the same engine as the Mondeo ST Tdci.
The EGR valve may need a clean, fairly easy to do I reckon. I'm guessing with those miles someones been doddling around town at low speeds, stop / start and never getting to temp so could be clogged up some.

There's a really great mix of information, camraderrie and fun here.....
