Smile Hi from Chicago

Hi all,

I've used this forum several times to troubleshoot and I finally decided to stop lurking and actually join. I recently had a 2004 Jaguar X-Type and I just purchased a 2001 Jaguar XJ8. I'm definitely a brand enthusiast. I hope to learn a lot about caring for my vehicle here.

Welcome to the forum intheevent,

Second Jaguar in succession gives you definite enthusiast status.

No need for links as you already know your way around. You can learn enough here to take the XJ8 completely apart and put it back together again.

Enjoy the X308 and the forum.

Graham

X308 is the factory designation for the XJ8 built from 1997 to 2003.

Jaguar model names have always been a bit obscure. Typical of this is use of XJ6 for a number of saloons built between 1968 and 1997. Similarly XJ8 covers different models from 1997 to 2009.

The factory and dealers use the factory designations to avoid confusion. The forum does the same.

Allow me to add a Midwestern greeting to the mix as well. I lived in Racine, WI for a while - which always felt spiritually close to Chicago somehow. Glad to have you aboard!
