Howdy, pardners,
I've just bought a 2004 Seafrost XJ8 with 122,000 miles and some hail damage. The title is from the insurance company in Colorado, and it looks like the hail damage is from June.
The 1646 code is present and relentless, the wheel bearings groan slowing down, the undercover is gone, and the oil cooler is all mashed in along the bottom.
I'm no neophyte to British engineering, as I still have a squadron of 3 Land Rover Series II Disco's in service, after having parted out two Series 1 Disco's.
As you may well imagine, I am a glutton for punishment, I thrive on abuse, and improve with neglect, so I'll be delving further into the halls of Jaguarundi to unravel the mysteries and find the treasures of the Jaguar lore and awareness.
I'll get cracking on a spark plug swap and oil change tomorrow, and when my o2 sensor arrives, I'll bash it in and hope I can clear the code.
Ciao, for niao,
Claudio

Hello, Claudio,
It's a little known requirement that Jaguar/Land Rover owners be just as you describe; Gluttons for punishment and thrive on abuse. I hadn't thought of improving with neglect because that Certainly doesn't describe our cars, but it explains quite a lot of why veteran owners/drivers are so mellow!
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
