Default Husker Greetings from a new XK8 Owner

Hello, everyone! I'm finally circling back to post an introductory note about myself and my new-to-me Jaguar XK8. I purchased it in mid-June from a board member who shall remain nameless, and following his advice I sought out the Forum as a place to learn more about my vehicle and share the Jaguar ownership experience with my fellow enthusiasts.

In the very short while that I've been on the forum, I've already learned about some of the 'time bombs' associated with this model, and will be taking proactive steps to make sure that I don't experience a 'green shower' in the near future. Those things NEVER happen at a convenient time, and from some of the expert posts provided by forum members, there are a couple of workarounds to help mitigate the situation that make sense to me.

The only downside of owning a Jaguar convertible is that my wife no longer has any real interest in hopping on my Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic. It turns out that she'd much rather hop in the Jaguar, put the top down and go for a ride. Looks like the Harley will have to go, because I'm not parting with the Jag!

Anyway, I look forward to sharing in the ownership experience with you and to the possibility of "rubbing elbows" at a future vehicle event. Safe and happy motoring!

Kurt

Welcome to the forum Kurt,

Sounds like the XK8 has found another good home. Watch out for those 'time bombs'.

Thanks! I've already benefited from some of your guidance on the somewhat epic thread associated with the hydraulic hose failures on the convertible top. I didn't realize that fixing it - either with electrical or hydraulic solutions - could create such a holy war. Opinions are like noses; everyone has one!

You're right about that. It's a lot safer in a Coupe.
