Default I am new to this forum.

Hi,
I just started an account today. I am in ohio and a full time student. I purchased a 2002 jaguar x-type from my dad about 6 months ago. He bought it from the dealer, and just recently purchased a 2006 x-type. I have blue jaguar 3.0 model automatic transmission with grey leather. So far I am thrilled with my first car, and really enjoy driving it. I am a part time high school student, and opted to take college classes one year early, so I do quite a bit of driving back and fourth from my two campuses. So far the car has been very reliable, and I hope to get a few more years out of it. Any tips????
Thanks

Welcome to the forum, nice car for a first drive.

The biggest tip I could give is, 'get dad to pay'

Good luck with your studies.

Welcome, easy on your gas pedal and beware hard launches because your Transfer case is a weak point from what I learn thanks to X Type Forum

hey there and welcome to the site, good to have you here.
I've manually upgraded you to full forum access
As for the x type on an 02 plate? There were some minor issues on the early models best checked out in the X type FAQ section....nothing too serious but worth a look.
De[ending on mileage you may wanna look at checking the fluids in the transfer case.....sealed for life....NOT
Anyhow, a great car and exactly what I had ( except mine was a 2.5 and manual..lol )

Thanks for the advice. Mine has 119,000 on it... so it's getting older. what do I need to do keep the transfer case in good shape. I just want the car to last with relatively few major expenses, and from my research new transfer cases are almost 4k... what do you suggest. The car has always been serviced at the dealer, but we have experienced a lurch like 2 or 3 times with it in the last 5 years, i have no idea if that has anyhting to do with the transfer case. What can I do to make the car last longer and be efficent in the future???? I love the car and really enjoy driving it, so far it's been a great car! Thanks
