Cool Isaac New Member

I live in Victoria Texas a owner of 2 Jags 1999xj8/1985 xj6 I had trouble with my 1999 2 yrs after purchase kept lossing coolant. The heater stop working.I had a mech check for leakage he pressure up left pressure on all night no change.I then had a surge or ruff idle I change timing chain tensioner. No change in performance and then after 6 months the car would jerk and I would have to keep it under 3000 rpm. I was told it jump time. I thought I would change head gaskets and reset time and hear I am looking for advice.

Welcome to the forum Isaac,

You look to have been hit with two of the regular issues with the early V8 - cooling system and tensioners.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 section. Good place to start is the FAQ's. If you post details of the suspected jumped timing chain, you'll get plenty of advice.

Remember to post vehicle details in your Signature to help others give relevant information.

Welcome to the forum Issac,

Good to have you with us.
Folllow Grahams link, I hope the gasket will solve your problem.

If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Welcome to the forum.

Good to see you.

If it was a garage that changed your tensioners I would have thought that after 6 months only that the repair was still under warranty?
