Jaguar S-type Base V6...Pure Enjoyment
Recently I sold my outdated 97' Merc S500 I bought new ($50K in repairs over the years. Glad to see it go) and decided to buy an 04' S-type base V6.
I have owned the car for a month and had issues with the throtte body (replaced with a new one) updated the crappy ford speakers to JL, replaced the lower intake seals, PCV valve and line, spark plugs, IMT rings, new brakes and rotors all around, front sway bar bushings, rear sway bar links, and will still need to replace several ball joints and rear tie rods.
After all of this I still LOVE the car and I am not concerned about the cost to bring this car back to what it should be.
The styling of this car is truly exceptional.
Last week I purchased a the Nav unit and CD player, and have been told I need to re-wire the entire car in order to have Nav. Which I'm fine with.
Before the Merc I had several Audi models and would rebuild them as a hobby. (late 70's - 80's 5000 turbo models. Pain in the *** by the way)
So I do have a question that hopefully a veteran S-type Jag owner could answer - Do I need anything else to make it work? Somone said I need the Nav player in the trunk, others say I also need a some sort of GPS antenna, and others tell me I am just crazy for even thinking about it.
Any sugestions?, or reasonable parts resources in the States? Local salvage yards in Atlanta keep telling me to buy a Garmen. This car is driven daily and I do not want to deal with wires hanging down all over the place.
To me it just looks sloppy or maybe I am OCD.
