If the transmission is leaking bad enough it will definitely cause problems. Most times an automatic will shudder in certain gears and at certain RPM's. Sometimes the thing will try to move forward when it's in park. These are all signs it's going out. I'm guessing he's saying the pan is cracked from running over something and it's low on fluid. It would be better if you pursued this in the proper S-type forum. This is just for intro's.
