I'm Bill Sundin from Laguna Beach, recently bought a 2006 XJ8L with 66k miles in immaculate condition - never hit, dented or scratched - charcoal/charcoal.

Not sure what came over me, I got it as my must-run-every-day car; after over a dozen British cars, I guess I should know better.

Past Brit cars over the last 45 years start with a few Sprites, a couple MGBs, XK-E (my first love/hate relationship), a couple Silver Clouds and a Camargue, Bentley S2, RT1 Formula Atlantic and March SuperVee.

Second week the check engine light came on (code P050B) and airbag warning; now that it's hot here, it will abruptly peg the temp gauge after standing a few minutes in traffic, and just as abruptly go back to its usual perfect "N" when it gets moving. But the joy of driving it makes it all worth it.

Your car section is here XJ ( X350 & X358 ) XJ6 / XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

P050B - O2 sensors out of calibration. An oddball that - see what the XJ8 gurus say.

Thanks - There's a TSB for P050B, haven't checked to see if the smog warranty might cover it.

Thanks - I'm suspecting (and hoping for) a false hot reading, since it's probably impossible to truly go from N to Hot to N in about a minute. I'm going to Temecula where it'll be 97 today, so I'll be sweating bullets and avoiding traffic jams.
