Default Hi from Tasmania

G'day from NW Tasmania,
I joined up to the forum a few months ago after buying our XKR and I thought it was time I did an intro.

We first saw a new XKR for sale in a Jag showroom in Brisbane in 2005 with a price tag in excess of $200K. At that price it was only feasible if we won the lotto! Anyway, 10 years later and retired with bit of spare cash (my wife reminded me you can't take it with you) we decided to look again and in April we found a 2002 XKR 4.2 coupe in Bondi Beach with a fairly reasonable (for Oz) price tag. We had her checked out and a few days later flew up to Bondi had a test drive, bought her and drove down to Melbourne via the coast road then across on the ferry to Tassie.

We have had some gearbox issues which are now sorted following a rebuild. I will do a separate post on this in a while.

We also have a MX5 (no, I'm not a hairdresser), which gives us the wind on the bald patch experience and the Jag is good for longer trips to Launceston or Hobart. She puts a smile on our faces whenever we drive her - we love the sound the supercharger makes. Worth every cent.

Welcome to the forum Tassiejag,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

It sounds like you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

You can also visit the Australia - Victoria/Tasmania Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/australia-victoria-tasmania-94/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thanks Graham. I am a member of the JCCT so I get to meet other Jag owners down here. However, XKRs are very thin on the ground down here. I know of only one XK8 over in Lonnie.

Welcome.

XKR's are skinny on the ground anywhere downunder.
