Hello All,
I have had a 1995 XJ6 for about 5 years, unfortunately the paint on the car has really deteriorated in the last couple of years, it also seems to turn off when idling with lights on. Anyway I am currently debating whether to buy a "newer" 2000-01 XJ8 or get this fixed, plus a lot of little things are not the same any more, the airbag light comes on for no reason etc. I really like the car, engine and transmission are strong but then the appeal of a getting a clean car is very strong too.
I hope to learn from this forum and get advise from all those who have been there and hopefully share my experiences.

Welcome, I like X300 better than X308 despite not being too much difference between these two models . It's up to your decision but from what I see, I would avoid any X308 with plastic tensioner , I think it's a bigger deal than nikasil because there are no longer sulphur content in the gasoline which was a huge threat for '98-01 engines
Still looking I let an almost perfect one get away.
