I have a 98 XK8 Convertible 72,000 miles. Black on black. No problems so far. Added new tires and changed out the original water pump and thermostat when I noticed it ran hot. The car came with no rear seat. Must have been removed by previous owner. I have a new set up on the way. Any one know how to install the rear seat and belts etc. Thanks. Kevin

Welcome to the site Kevin. I'd love to see what the previous owner did in place of the back seat. The back seat in these cars is pretty much useless so there have been owners looking to do something else back there. I've never removed or installed the rear seat (someone in the XK8/XKR section probably has and could tell you more) but I pulled up the (mininal) instructions from the JTIS.

For the seat back:
Installation
1.Position seat squab placing seat belts over.
2.Finally position squab, engaging body tangs by applying downward hand pressure.
3.Fit and tighten the two squab securing screws.
4.Fit rear seat cushion. Refer to 76.70.37.

For the cushion
Installation
1.Position seat cushion for access and pass rear seat belt anchors through central penetration.
2.Finally position cushion and fit and tighten securing nuts.
3.Return front seat backs to the upright position.

Hopefully that helps some. I recommend you post your question in the XK8/XKR section for more response.
