I just recently bought a 2005 X-type 3.0 and came across this site while searching for a spare key. Wow I can't believe the cost of these things! I'm from a little suburb just north of Philadelphia, so if anyone from these parts know of a trusted mechanic and locksmith please feel free to drop their name.

Welcome to the forum Ken,

A Jaguar will never be a cheap vehicle to run but with the information on the forum you can greatly reduce costs.

Follow this link X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X-Type section for help and advice. It is also where you should post tech questions.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the North East US Region section by following this link North East US - ME NH VT MA RI CT NJ NY PA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Welcome to the forum Ken,

Good to have you with us.
There are a few members in PA so hopefully someone can point you in the right direction.
Search the X Type section for post by Brutal on key programming, it runs in my mind he had some scheme with aluminium foil to fool the car.
Of course I could be wrong. :-)

Enjoy the forum.

If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Thanks Norri and Graham, I have been lurking around the 2 sub directories you have stated for the past few days.

Welcome Gman! If you're fond of DIY work on your cars, there's not much that our membership around here hasn't tried and documented for others to benefit from. Search like a mad man, and ask if you come up short before running to that mechanic or dealer.

One tip, if your search has three letter words, like ABS or CAN...give google a try instead, using 'jaguarforums' as one of your keywords, the search results will include all of the forum threads/posts in the first few listed. For some reason, the search function within our forum software needs 4+ letters to succeed.

Dive in!
