Default New Jag lover in USA - NEED HELP!

Hello,

Im interested in buying a brand new 2017 35t Base model.
Has some nice features like Navi, weather packages etc.
the MSRP is exactly $46,026.00

When I went to the dealership and decided I wanted to buy the car->
I sat down with the salesmen, and started to negotiate a price->
to my surpise the salesman said he wanted EXACTLY $46,026.00 and not a penny less....
Gave me some BS story that Range/Land Rovers & Jaguar dealerships have AWLAYS sold their cars are exact MSRP prices.. (No negotiating etc.)
THIS CANNOT BE TRUE...
can someone confirm this?

All i wanted was to feel like i got a GOOD DEAL on a car..
I can't pay the EXACT MSRP price... nobody does that..
I just wanted like $2k off or something..i was so upset i left the dealership feeling completely disrespected..
I mean the guy actually wanted the $26.00 as well.. unbelievable..

Any tips from you guys on how to negatioite a price would be greatly appreciated!
Should I ask to speak to the manager?
I can't imagine the dealership would want to lose a sale over $2,000??

First, welcome.
Second, that is hard to imagine that a car salesman would let a prospect leave like that. Usually they will give the BS line and then "take the offer to the manager".
Maybe try a different dealer? Get a competing price and take it to them? I don't know because I Usually don't buy new. Good luck

My first thought is that the dealership isn't hungry enough nor is that salesman. If you have your heart absolutely set on buying one of these cars, find another dealership who was willing to negotiate even if it involves a bit of travel.

And when you find one, and if you buy the car from them, park it Right out front of this dealership with the Other dealer's stickers all over it and leave it there while you go for coffee, just to let them see what a deal (commission) they lost.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
