Default New to Jaguars

Hello everyone. I am looking to buy my first Jaguar. I have browsed this very useful website for information concerning the exact model I'm considering.

This vehicle will be my wife's daily driver, but I get to pick it out. Plus, I'll be the driver when we drive anywhere together, which happens to be daily!

I've narrowed the search to a 2004-2006 Jaguar XJ8, XJ8L, Vanden Plas, or XJR.

I almost purchased an immaculate '01 VDP due to the low book value of that generation, but I'm holding out for a newer vehicle.

Please point me to any good threads regarding pre-purchase inspections. I can spot even the best body repairs, but I'm a bit lacking in other specific mechanical problems I might be able to spot on my own, before considering having a vehicle inspected.

Let me know of any leads for an XJ in Minnesota. I hope we find the perfect car in the next few months. Since I enjoy troubleshooting and fixing my own vehicles, I hope to be back for information and sharing. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum TJC,

Good to hear the forum has already helped you to narrow down the search.

You probably already know you way to the tech section but if not, follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-x350-x358-xj6-xj8-xjr-28/ to the X350 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' at the top of the threads there has useful information on some of the commonest issues with the model. Posting a question about a buying checklist will get further advice.

You can also visit the US MidWest Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/mid-west-us-il-ia-mi-mn-mo-oh-wi-39/ to find other members in your region.

Good luck with the search.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham
