hello all, i thought i would join a jaguar group, as i have recently bought a another jag after 15 years of saying never again. i bought a 86 xj6 auto years ago which lasted all of 6 months, useless electrics, rubbish british leyland build quality and the usual mechanical problems, including a full head rebuild, but dispite it all i loved the thing. but with no cheap after maket parts and mechanics who were charging a fortune, i realised that at the time if you werent mechanically minded and blessed with a trust fund you couldnt really run one.
i have had my 99 xj8 sovereign auto for a couple of months now and its fantastic!! paid two and a half with a ton on the clock, full jag service history, and not a dint scratch or blemish anywhere, in a beautiful pearlescent greeny blue.
i hope to enjoy it for years to come

 

I am sure you will have a better experience with the new car, but check up on "upper cam chain tensioners" - should have been done on your car by now at that mileage.
