Well Hello everyone,
I am new here and would like to say Hi to all the Jaguar lovers.
I bought a lovely 96 X300 32.Sport of someone most of you will have heard of. He is Ken Morley, better known for his role in Coronation Street as Reg Houldsworth. He lives just down the road from us and when he wishes to sell one of his cars he just parks them on the footpath with a notice on the windscreen, so that is how I came to own this car.
When I bought the car it came with one black headed key and one fob.
Obviously more would be safer so I have bought a fresh fob on E bay but have not yet attempted to programme it.
I have also seen on line how to take the code off the Tibbe type key, and using this I have had a key cut. This key fits the door lock perfectly, and also fits the ignition and switches the dash lights etc on, but it does not work the starter, so it is no use.
The key appears identical to the original, except where the growler is it has the word 'Italy' and a monogram 'S' on one side and on the other it has'TBE1P'.
It has been suggested that the key should have a transponder chip in it. Is this so?
