Hi, I just joined the forum to learn more about the 2012 XF. I have a 203 X-Type that I am looking to replace. I am right now torn between the Jag and the BMW 550i. I would imagine some of you were in the same boat. Would welcome any thoughts.

Hey there Hans, welcome aboard Jaguarforums, good to have you here with us
check out t he XF section for better answers there my friend
There really are some amazing and friendly guys here....you're in really good company to discuss anything Jag related or even just to have a few laughs!
A really great mix of information, camraderrie and fun
I've manually upgraded you to full forum access so you can better view the site and all its features
Welcome, Hans. We are biased, take the Jag
Seriously though, the 5 series BMW is one of their better cars, but it just is a bit boring and common. The XF is sportier and better looking for less money.

Welcome!
The BMW vs Jag debate is a long one. I came from a 2001 540i/6 that was an absolute blast to drive in the twisties, but was a bit harder around town. What I really liked about the Jag is to me is was a bit softer around town, but that is where I do most of my driving anyway. Also, I am in the camp of thinking that the double wishbone suspension is far superior to a McPherson strut setup for tactile road feel.
