Hello everyone!! My name is Dan and I am in the process of buying my first Jag. It is a 2002 X-Type,2.5 li. automatic transmission, Black exterior with I believe is ivory interior. 213,000 km. The car looks great and I am pumped to get it. I am presently at work on a Coast Guard ship in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada and won't be able to actually get the car until April 19th when I get back home to New Brunswick, Canada. The car, I am told by the current owner, is in needs a knock sensor. Is this a common problem with this vehicle? I noticed that there is a thread with detailed instruction and pictures on how to change out the sensor. I am looking forward to being an active member to this forum. Thanks. Pictures to follow at a later date.

Welcome Dan,
That's a long wait ahead of you. Living on a small island, it never occurred to me that Coast Guard ships anywhere else would stay at sea for that long.
The forum can inform on many levels!
X-Type section will have the answer on whether knock sensors are a common failure (they aren't on the XJ's and XK's I've had) but it's not a major issue to change.
Black and Ivory is a great combination.
