Hello All,

I'm a new member from Honolulu, HI., by way of Chicago IL. Been out here in Honolulu since March of this year and decided to purchase a car. Wasn't sure what kind of car to get until leaving out one day and saw a 98xk8 with 51k miles, for sale outside my building, I was smitten at first glance, and then heart struck when I found out that there were issues with the car, that the owner was not being upfront about, and I couldn't in good conscious go ahead with the purchase.

So, that night I went back to the drawing board(Craigslist), since I now knew what kind of car I wanted, and I found a 00xk8 with 19.3k miles for sale not even three blocks away, and this one had the Car-fax, and was serviced at the Jaguar dealer here in Honolulu since it's original purchase. It's still kinda hard to believe the low mileage, I find myself imagining these elaborate schemes in which I have become the victim of the latest car scam, and then I go down to the parking stall, sit in the vehicle and reassure myself by starting the vehicle, listening to it, and smiling .

Welcome to the forum Morpheus,

Amazed you found one, let alone two that close!

Follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR section for help, advice and information. Be sure to check the HOW TO section there for known weaknesses with the early XK8's. Particularly look for info on tensioners and cooling system to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Western Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Yep, welcome to our world.

That is a GOOD find. They are out there, it just some digging some times to get it right.

Enjoy the car, AND the forum.

JimC64,

In retrospect I realize that I wasn't trying to create a thread per se, but merely trying to post an intro on the new members thread. This is my first time using a forum of any kind and just so happens that I picked in my limited experienced one of the better managed ones. It's a little overwhelming, I find myself reading posts from years past, getting a feel of the maturation process of some of the more prolific users. That being said I think it is a wonderful networking tool that is being run and managed by a group of professionals that take pride in their Jags. Keep up the good work!
