Unhappy New member in Edmonds, WA Fast Kat

Having owned several Jaguars in the past: 1958 Jag XK150 bought new in 1958. 1959 XL 150 Drop head cp bought new in 1959. 1957 Mk VII, 1961 Mark X. My new purchase is a 1967 XJS coupe that has a built 468 cu. in. big block Chev. installed. In the first 2 weeks I have had a cam or lifter go bad so the engine is coming out. Yesterday at a car picnic a hit and run driver hit my passenger side below the door. The paint job was new and no flaws in the car. The dejavue of owning Jag is slowly coming back. They are like a beautiful woman. You want one but it will cause nothing but heart ache.

The person who built the car had it set up for drag racing with a 3.78:1 rear end. The car lives up to it's license plate "Fast Kat". I feel like a person without a country. My car club is disowning me because I have a Jag and I will probably be shunned from the Jag forum because it has a Chev engine.
The weight of the Chev engine is the same as the V-12 so it still handles like a Jag

Welcome to the forum Fastkat XJS,

You're not the first here with a transplant but not many pile that much bad luck into the first two weeks.

Follow this link XJS - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJS section for help, advice and sympathy.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Please visit the Western US Region https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ for members and events in your region.

Hope you get the engine issues sorted soon. Enjoy the forum.

Graham
