Welcome to the forum raymondric,

Your Jaguar Dealer can provide the radio code. You'll have to give proof of ownership such as the V5C Registration Document.

For the tech question on the MIL, follow this link X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X-Type section for help, advice and information.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK Region section by following this link UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in this country.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Hello good people, My name is Ray from UK, I bought my first Jaguar yesterday and I ve done a hundred plus miles with it btw London and Birmingham and its lovely, I have few issues right from when I got the car and in search of solution I stumbled on this great forum.

I ve read couple of good sharing of info between members and I was convinced its the right place to be.

My jag (2.0L Xtype 91....miles 02 plate came with three issues, The engine light stays on and according to the seller its been checked at the garage but no fault found, the cigarette lighter is not working so I can't charge me satnav and finally, the radio is showing CODE and from the manual, I learnt there suppose to be a card with this code but I dont have this card included in the document i received. Please any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks ya all.

Thanks guys for the Welcome, I appreciate. Graham the links were helpful, I ve updated my signature and I ve also posted on the UK page. I ve spoken to a Jaguar dealer and he said the service dept. is closed and will get back to me on Monday regarding the radio code and like you said I ll need to provide proof of ownership and some fee since I bought the car elsewhere. Now on the engine light staying on and cigarette lighter not working am hoping it is nothing big and expensive as I just got the car two days ago it ll be nice to have it for a while before big expense.

Re the code
try "24255" - if that doesn't work, rather than pay a dealer you can email your VIN + copy logbook to Jaguar.
You could also ask on this thread
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...-crc-uk-82019/

You need to bite the (inexpensive) bullet and get an OBD code reader - the thread is here

Opinions seem to differ as to whether or not the radio does lock up after several attempts to put in an incorrect code.
If true it seems to require 10 attempts and may reset itself with an hour of ignition on - but I have no experience of this.
Is it the original radio - if not your dealer code won't work of course.

Yes it is the original radio, I will wait and see if it resets itself, pls do you know the best scanner to get for an x type 02 2.0L petrol and where to get one in the UK. The dealer charges £84 for diagnosis alone and my engine light stays on while the cigarette lighter socket is not working

Following a battery disconnect, the radio will not operate until the four-digit security code is entered.

If the code is entered incorrectly in three successive attempts the radio will not accept any entry until the radio has been left ON for one hour. After one hour in the 'ON' position the radio will accept three additional entries.

This time delay / repeat sequence goes on indefinitely.

I did verify this on my 2000 XJ8L a few years ago!

It seems your vehicle may have had a replacement radio. In this case the dealer cannot help you.

One possible resolution is to remove the radio to check whether the code has been written somewhere on the case. This is quite regular with used radios sourced from breakers.
