New member - in need of help
Howdy y'all.
Found the forum while looking for help on my 1997 XK8.
I live in North Texas about 30 miles south of Dallas. Real nice climate here, most of the time, hence the convertible.
Though my Jag is 15 years young it has only 31,500 miles and looks near new. I have my truck for daily to and fro and the XK8 is strictly for pleasure only.
The reference to needing help is the motor cut out while plodding along at 60 MPH. it restarted after about 10 mins but I can’t take it out again until I know what happened. There’s more to it, but I can get into that in a thread.

When you have just seconds to act, the police are only minutes away

Welcome to the forum Sean_tex,
That is very low miles. Not surprised the XK8 still looks new.
Follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR section for help, advice and information. The first question you'll get asked is about any DTC's so include the codes if you have them.
Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Southwest Region section by following this link Southwest US - AZ TX NM OK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Hope it's nothing serious with the XK8 and you are soon confident taking it out again.
Enjoy the forum.
Graham

Graham.
Thx for the tips. I don’t have the codes and presume you need a data recorder or something of that ilk to access them.
I haven't looked into the signature, etc yet.
BTW I spent many years just down A1 from you in Yorkshire and still a Leeds fan.

Be thankful you're not in the North of England tonight. Cold and wet you'll not be surprised to hear! I'd certainly swap it for sunny Texas.
I've enlarged your pic for a better view. You're right - it could be straight out of the showroom.
You'll need a scantool to read any codes. Check this link for member recommended:

The simplest and cheapest ELM tools will read the codes for your powertrain issue.

Thx Graham,
I like the idea of the Kiwi Bluetooth device thru' my Andriod.
Oh and BTW its 86F, sunny and a light breeze here today - sorry but love to rub that in with my brothers, one of which is in Boroughbridge, practicaly your neighbor.
Thx Norri for the welcome - you can't be still in Scotland and have a convertible, surely?
