I'm getting ready to change the upper tensioners next week. They appear to be original, and over 100k miles on the odometer. I found a source to rent the tools, on ebay. Glad to not be paying full $ for something I'll (hopefully!) use just once.

 

Very smart plan 01, good luck with the DIY job. Hope it goes smoothly. There's several threads on here in the XK and XJ areas about them, so if you get in a pinch, look around... you may find your answer before you even have to ask and wait.

Good to have you with us.....Some good tips there from H20 as probably most of the issues you'll run into have been posted about.....failing that I'm sure there are guys here that can help
