Hey Guy's

New member here in Sydney Australia

Have a 2004 XJ8 3.5ltr petrol in "Champaign" (looks gold to me!)
I am the 2nd owner, and got it with 100k km, and after 3 years, have hit 180k km

Only really had 1 problem (one really expensive problem!!), other than that the car runs smoothly

This is my 3rd XJ, first being a 1973, Series 1, XJ12L. Blew a radiator hose, overheated the engine, dropped a valve seat, replaced the engine with an HE, started "restoring" it, and gave up due to insufficient garage space

Second was a nice "original" 1971, Series 1, XJ6 (no restoration required!). Except for a head re-build, this was a nice car.

Hoping to pick up a few servicing tips from here, and some suggestions on possible fixes to the XJ8

May not post much, but will be watching from the wings

Enjoy

Andrew

Welcome to the forum Andrew,

Good to have you with us.
You can't leave us hanging like that! What was the expensive problem?

If you haven't already done so you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

The "expensive problem" was I kept getting Engine Failure light, and would go into limp-mode.
Jaguar did a diagnostic, and determied it was the Transmission.
The Gearbox was re-built, and the throttle body replaced.
Although these error have gone, I'm not convinced they had to go to this extent.....

Welcome Andrew,

That's an expensive list of past Jaguar experiences!

Plenty of info and advice on the XJ section to help keep the XJ running smoothly.
