Good Day All
My name is Dave (my posting name is the name of the car, and it's NOT a typo) and I have just acquired my first Jaguar - a five year old XJ6 2.7 Tdvi LWB.
It had to be a LWB because it was the only one with a sunroof; I've had three previous cars (still got the last one, Hyundai Getz, it's the day-to-day car) and think no car is complete without one. I know all you US, Oz, NZ, SA etc types will think me mad, but there's something about a sunroof that is (probably uniquely) suited to the British climate (and I don't care what Clarkson thinks).
I had a Mercedes 190E 2.6 some years ago; nice car but getting the 6cyl engine in that body was a mistake; it was very front heavy, under-steered like a pig, and I once did a complete 180 degree skid (in the wet) and scared myself ****less.
I'm a retired lecturer; I used to work in the training function in the electricity supply industry (the CEGB of old). My hobbies and interests are:
Church Bell Ringing (ie change ringing - favourite methods are Grandsire Triples and Bristol Major);
Astronomy
Old films
Film music
and I'm a lapsed Radio Amateur.

Hi All !
Welcome to the forum Dave & Partick the Cat,
I've only had one Jaguar with a sliding steel sunroof (an XJ40) and can fully understand why you like them.
Follow this link XJ ( X350 & X358 ) XJ6 / XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X350 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You may also like to visit the UK Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-68/ to find other members in this country.
Enjoy the forum.

Yeh the sunroof on the Merc (no Air Con else I might have looked after it better) was steel, but the sunroof on X350/358 (and Stan the Getz) is even better, because it's glass so you get some light even if its closed.
Perhaps I shouldn't admit it but my very first car, when I was 16, was an eleven year old 1954 Bond Minicar three wheeler. I once cornered that on two wheels (and never tried it again). 197cc Villiers 2-stroke and 6 volt electrics.
I must confess that the new Morgan 3-wheeler rather appeals ... but at £30k ... eurgh.
