Default New member xj6 manual

Ok, so I joined the forum for some help.

My father passed away and I inherited his pride and joy 1982, series III xj6 sovereign, 4.2 ltr.

I would like to insure it but it's creating some issues. It's an original manual transmission and was imported into Australia from the UK. I've found the original books with most of it's history. Import is led-git. But the manual is the sticking point.

I'm not after an evaluation from anyone and it needs some work which I hope to do when I get time, but my dad thought that it was worth more being a manual, due to its rarity in the country. Would this be the case for me insuring it or should I just get normal cover?

Welcome to the forum Rik,

Sorry for your loss. Keeping your father's XJ6 can be a great reminder of happy times.

The manual transmission makes it a rare vehicle. Follow this link XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJ6 series III tech section for help, advice and information.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Australia / New Zealand Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/australia-new-zealand-51/ to find other members in your part of the World who can offer relevant insurance advice.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Welcome to this friendly Forum, Rik.
I'd take Graham's advice re visiting your Regional section to ask about insurance valuation.

Rare, yes, and desirable to many Jag enthusiasts...and probably worth a bit more to them, especially if the rest of the car is in top shape.

But you're not sitting on a pot of gold :-)

Welcome aboard, by the way!

Cheers
DD

Rik, I recently found a Haynes Service manual in a PDF that I believe covers your model as well, I'd be glad to send it to you, as well as any other XJ, Series III owners.

Hi all,

Thanks for the warm welcome and so many quick responses!

I'm going to take the suggestions on board and have a play around with my account to try to get things right so that I can learn how to use the site.

Vejita 88- I might take you up on the offer. Any information is knowledge.

DD- definitely not a pot of gold. Plenty of character.... haha

GGG/Jim- thanks for the links. Going to read through a few now. Firstly the help link. Then maybe a few more questions.

cheers.
