Post "New" Old Jag owner. Saying HI.

Just got an 83' Sovereign. It sorta just fell into my lap and came with a complete donor/parts car for $1,000.

The Good: The car is beautiful with fresh leather seats, dash, moon roof, all good chrome, all original Jag parts. and fairly nice paint. ( Few bad spots easily fixable )

The inevitable bad: The motor has a thrown rod or something from the idiot, previous owners long time "friend". But hopefully the donor car's engine is good. ( It was wrecked in the side and supposedly runs fine) Still to be determined..

I have always loved the older Jaguar's style and class and now that I have the car I don't have the money to really go pouring into the car so this won't be an overnight road ready vehicle but it's a good start for a project and to get one more of these beautiful classics back on the pavement.

I am looking forward to learning a few things here on the forum and hopefully being able to contribute as well in time. With my luck I will encounter all of the one in a million odd problems on this build and can have the fun of sharing them with all of you!

Here is a few pics of what I have to work with:

Thanks. I have been tossing around thoughts of keeping it original for the majority or tossing the Jag 4.2 for a tuned port Chevy in the future. Either way I will keep it as a sleeper, and update the electronics, ignition, and cooling.
