Default New Ramblings from an old motorhead

While I'm new to this forum, I am not new to Jags. My first was a 1965 XKE that I purchased in early 1966, my next was a 1975 XJ12C, then an XJSC and recently, an XKR convertible. Also, I am no stranger to vehicles British. I've enjoyed Royal Enfields, Nortons, Triumphs, and in a rather drastic move one year, I arose from two wheels to four-wheel drive to own a Land Rover Series 88 with the Tropical Roof. I've owned many different Japanese bikes and now drool for a large BMW 6-cylinder that the doc won't prescribe.

I've been a motorhead all my life, and have sampled a plethora of cars: fast, slow, British, French and Deutsch, plus American cars, and with fuels from avgas to diesel. Sitting in my garage now, in addition to my "new" 2002 XKR (with 30K miles), I have a 2006 Dodge Magnum Hemi SRT8, also supercharged (aftermarket, of course); a 2005 Lincoln and a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. I bought the Magnum new in the spring of 2006 and so far the mileage total is less than 7,000. It is truly a scary, fast beast. Really: 0-60 is rice rocket immediate (less than 4 sec), like hanging onto a modern bike from Suzuki, Kawasaki or Honda. It's so fast, hammer down, it scares me and speed NEVER scared me before! Even back in the day with the fastest factory car going...a Chrysler 300D circia 1958 that easily hit 150 mph (light speed back then).

By most of your accountings, I'm sure that I'm an "old man." I am a retired navy captain; a retired college administrator, and now I'm retired-retired. I sold my last two motorcycles about two years ago. Having crushed an ankle into a trimolleular fracture in a non-motorcycle fall, I was ordered by the orthodedic surgeon to wean myself off bikes. I sold a 2006 1200 Sportster with all the go-fast stuff Harley would install, and a (I believe 2005) special edition Fat Boy with 90 cid engine and later a six-speed tranny I added.

I'm seeking now a schematic that shows the color coded wire functions from the old Motorola/Jaguar "Timeport" flip phone cradle in the armrest so that I may wire a new plug for a modern digital phone into the system. I've read varied splashes in the forum, but none I find answer this basic question. Anyone who points me to color coded interpretations on the phone output end of the plug will receive a warm, appreciated thanks.

Welcome jhc,

That's quite a collection of vehicles you've had in the past and have now.

Presumably you want to remove the old Motorola installation and hook up something current technology to the telephone harness connector under the centre console rather than interface with the existing setup? Plenty of discussion about this topic on the XK8/XKR 1996-2006 section.

You should check whether the XKR has the original 10 pin or later 14 pin harness connector as the 2002 model is at the changeover point.
