Default New XJ12 owner in northern Indiana

I bought my first Jaguar yesterday and it's sitting in my shop ready for a light (I think) restoration.

It's a 1979 XJ12 that I found in Indy sitting in a fellow's driveway for the last eight years. Needless to say it doesn't run.

It's a California car with a new interior that is pretty rust-free, at least to my rust belt eyes. After fixing up cars here for the last thirty years, this one is going to be a treat.

Now for the part that might insult purists - its got a Chevy 350 and TH350. It looks like a clean installation, but I cannot tell whose kit it is or what condition the drivetrain is in.

I'm looking forward to tearing in this cat, and am sure I'll be needing the advice of this forum's members.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum Ken,

We've members with alternative engines / transmissions in Jaguars and some with Jaguar engines in other vehicles. Everyone is welcome.

After standing for eight years, the XJ12 may take a bit careful work to waken up. Follow this link XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum for help and advice. Might be a good idea to edit the 'XJ12' line in your Signature to include 'Chevy 350 and TH350' so everyone knows and don't start giving information on the Jaguar V12 engine and transmission.

Please also visit the Mid West US Region section Mid West US - IL IN IA MI MN MO OH WI - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum for other members and events in your region.

Enjoy the XJ12 and the forum.

Graham
