Default New XK8 owner in Maryland

Just purchased my first Jaguar--99 XK8 convertible, 89,000 miles. It's wish fulfillment after too many years of driving minivans to the mall. I'm in Montgomery county in Maryland outside of DC. and am looking for a good mechanic whom I can rely on who knows about Jaguars. Would rather not take to the dealer in Bethesda as expect they will be pricey. Having returned to to the area after 14 years in Europe I don't have any good local leads, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The XK will beat a minivan hands down!
Hopefully someone can point you to a good shop.

Hey Stephen, welcome to the forum. I can't help with a mechanick since I do most of my own large work. Congrts on the car I'm still looking for a XK myself. Montgomery County was my old stomping grounds. I don't recognize a lot of places anymore when I go that way. I'd @ ;east try the dealer in Bethesda, I have seen a quite a few good remarks here and also some references off line as well. Sometimes it pays to have it it fixed once.

Thanks. I'll give the Bethesda dealer another look. Car is in pretty good condition, but is having a few problems that need attention. I aspire to get to the point where I can do a fair amount of the work myself, but it will be a work in progress. I found this one while walking around in my father in law's neighborhood in Savannah. Just couldn't pass it up--have wanted one for years. Good luck with your search.

Hey Stephen and Welcome aboard, good to have you with us
If you like forums, I think you'll like it here! Some of the best guys around and a really great mix of information, camraderrie and fun.

As for fixing her / parts / good mechanic etc? We can probably help with most queries you may have here, there's some really knowledgable guys, great techs etc here all willing to help.

You should check out the vendors we have here as well, some of them are exceptional for parts / service etc.....If you don't ask you'll never know!

As for the dealer? You probably are right, they may be expensive, but my advice is to at least ask, you may be surprised in a good way, but unless you ask you're just assuming

I've manually upgraded you to full forum access so you can better view the site.....
