This is my first post on this forum and I want to start out by thanking everyone for their past posts which helped me in my search for a top-notch XJS. I’ve enjoyed reading the past posts which gave me a lot of knowledge as well as things to be on the lookout for.
I recently turned 70 which somehow caused me to look back and yearn for another older Jag. I’ve had the following Jags over the years in this order: 1966 Series 1 4.2 E-type FHC; 1988 XJS coupe; 1991 XJS convertible; 1958 XK150 OTS; 1995 XJS convertible; 2000 XK8 convertible and 2004 XK8 convertible, my current daily driver.
I’ve had a Jag in my garage since 1992.
E-types and XK 120-150s currently cost more than I wanted to pay, so I set out on a hunt for an XJS. I wanted a low-mileage pre-face lift coupe so it was fairly easy to scour the market, primarily using eBay as both a research and analysis tool, although I searched other Internet sites as well. I followed the sales for several months, so I had a good idea of the going price points. I believe the XJS to be a reasonable priced vehicle and I think we’ll see the prices rise for low mileage cars in primo shape. Although I can do mechanical work, I wanted a driver and not a project car.
Anyhow, I don't want to make this initial post too long (maybe already too late for that) so I'll just say I recently put in my garage a 1989 black XJS coupe with less than 23K miles on it.
Cheers everyone,
