Hi, i've been posting for a while now and didn't realize there was an introduction area, just read it in an unrelated thread.
My name is Chris and i just bought an 04 X, 3.0 sport black inside and out.
I've restored a couple of mid 80's XJ6's and consider myself a lover of the Jag.
I'm 41, Born and raised in England and moved to New York (USA) in 1999.
I can usually fix anything less complicated than an X type engine removal!...but i often ask questions as previous experience trumps all.
I'm quite good at diagnosing problems and have a decent scan tool
Common sense, google, and the forums have always got me back on the road again.
I've been wanting an X for over a year but felt they couldn't handle upstate NY snow, i've read a lot of threads saying how good they are so thought i'd give it a try. I was driving an 00 Land Rover Discovery, though i never liked the way it looked or handled.
The X i bought was pretty cheap at $6200, but it was sold with minor issues, so far....front driver lower balljoint (ordered) both rear lower front control arms (ordered) rear brake was squealing as the pad was worn to the indicator (replaced all pads) and needs new tires NOW!.
I've already changed the oil/filter with 5/30 synthetic, drained and topped up the transfer case with Mobil 1 synthetic 75/140. Removed 3 qts of transmission fluid and replaced it with Royal Purple. (will do a few more times)
I'm loving owning the Jag, to me, it's a 21st century XJ6...i loved the XJ, but i think this is even better!.

Doesn't matter really, but I'll skip the general welcome mat as you're already well versed in the ways of the site by now I guess.
The X is a great ride, I used to have an 02 plate 2.5 myself a few years back.......great AWD in the snow!

Never realized this area was here, or the intro protocol, I'm glad to get an X in my signature now. The hunt was really painful for the X, craigslist radius of 500 miles 3x a day+ ebay (same radius 3x a day) for about 2 months.
Found a nice 03 X, same as mine in VA for $5999, i sold my car and called to arrange to go see it, then he said, "by the way, theres a lien on it" so he strung me along for a while. I was pissed not to get it, but figured it was for a reason (lol)...and so i found my new X on craigslist NJ, priced at $7200 i shot him an offer of $6200 and he accepted.
I doubt the PO did any maintenance on the car, just as well...no rounded off nuts :+)
Why did you give up the Jag?

Why did you give up the Jag? It was / is a great ride and I do miss it, but have you seenthe price of petrol over here??....lol
Went diesel with both cars for fuel economy but love my A6 and the wifes happy with her Passat, so all good for the moment
