Hi all,

hoping to join the happy (but shrinking) ranks of Irish XK owners over the next few months, so doing my homework.

Never had a jag before, although my great-aunt had an SS1 that she maintained herself.

My compliments on a friendly and helpful forum.

Welcome to the forum Fenderman,

Good to have you with us.
I'm going to assume that you have the earlier XK so you will find the tech section here XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum if I'm wrong look here XK / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
I'm not going to guess on which part of Ireland you are in, but check out the regional section too!
Enjoy the forum.

If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Good luck with your search new guy! What year are you looking for...ultra sleek n modern (2007 up) or curvy and what we like to call 'traditional jaguar' (1997 thru 2006)?

Hope you find one soon and start sharing your ownership experience with the rest of us enthusiasts!

Welcome to the forum fenderman,

Why are Irish Jaguar owners a shrinking band?

Good plan to do the research then buy the Jaguar. You'd be surprised how many do it the other way round.

Enjoy the search and the forum.

Graham

Thanks all for the welcome.

I'll be looking for an XK or XKR, post 2006, not sure which. I'm probably not going to be able to buy for a couple of months, as I'm far from a city and won't have time to travel about for a while, but it seems to me there's plenty to learn about these gorgeous creatures in the meantime.

I say 'a shrinking band' because since with the economic crash of 2008 here in the south the number of new sales has collapsed and quite a few XKs have come on the market. I haven't seen a single used XK advertised later than 2008, and I guess that's because few if any new cars were sold.

I suppose the upside for a prospective buyer is that advertised cars have been very slow to sell and prices are drifting down (for Ireland, that is, where car prices are hiked by enormous taxes).

So here goes on my learning curve. Thanks again.
